Local News | La Mata, is a fabulous choice to live or to invest in a holiday home in Spain
La Mata, is a fabulous choice to live or to invest in a holiday home in Spain. Unlike a lot of coastal Towns on the Costa Blanca, La Mata still retains its Spanish identity, traditions and culture.
The Town of La Mata has been welcoming tourists for over 25 years and today La Mata is one of the most popular Spanish villages on the Mediterranean coast. However, it's not a commercialised Town like some of the other Costa Blanca coastal resorts. La Mata has that special "Spanish" feel in a relaxed environment.
The concentration of salt and the temperature, combine to endow this area with a particularly healthy micro-climate, recommended by doctors for its beneficial properties. Bathing in the salt lakes is also becoming popular for many medicinal reasons. The climate in La Mata makes it the perfect location for year round holiday activities, especially if you want to fulfil that yearning for some sunshine during those cold wet and windy winter months in the UK.
On average, La Mata enjoys 320 days of sunshine per year and an average daily temperature of 17°C. Temperatures in July and August are typically 30°C. Many people prefer the months when the weather can be near perfect: April, May, June, September, October and November.
La Mata offers all the typical activities for tourists down to the beach and along the promanade, at lunch times and in the evenings the beach and the surrounding streets are alive with activities, with many busy cafes, restaurants and bars, my personal favorite places to go are Alma and Pura Vida. These streets also offer many shopping opportunities, plus, the popular Spanish street market is in La Mata every Wednesday morning.
I dont think I could ever tire of this picturesque Beach at La Mata that stretches for 2,363 metres in length and is 47 metres wide.
La Mata is just a 5 minute bus ride from the Town of Torrevieja and only 40 minutes’ drive from Alicante airport.
